Read On!
It is very important to keep reading during the summer break. Developing a love of reading requires that one feed the flames on a regular basis. Summer reading also helps maintain the skills developed throughout the school year.
Students are expected to enter third grade with a list of books read independently over the summer. Please use the following format:
Students should read 3 books at their independent reading level. This means that your child is able to read the book without adult intervention. Each of these books should be a comfortable challenge, with some new words and ideas.

- Title
- Author
- Brief synopsis consisting of 2 to 5 sentences. Parents/guardians are encouraged to help with this.

Children are encouraged to read all types of material in addition to the three required books. Magazines, picture books, bedtime stories read to a younger sibling, and shared reading experiences (ex.: family story time of a too-challenging book) are invaluable fodder that help instill that love of reading.
